NBA Draft 2015: April Mock Draft -- Atlanta Hawks select Sam Dekker

With the 15th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft . . . the Atlanta Hawks select Sam Dekker from the University of Wisconsin. And, really, the rich get richer. For some reason (I'm too pressed for time to look it up), the Brooklyn Nets had to switch 1st round draft picks with the Atlanta Hawks for some reason. In my mind right now that reason is because Billy King is a bad General Manager. It works out great for the Hawks, the #1 Eastern Conference Seed. I would say that with the contracts they have coming back next season they are just about set everywhere except for power forward and center - two things that can easily be resolved in free agency, starting with their own free agent Paul Millsap. They have Jeff Teague, Dennis Schroder, and Shelvin Mack all at point guard returning. They have Al Horford inside, but Pero Antic and Mike Muscala aren't locks to return. They will have Kyle Korver, Thabo Sefolosha, and Kent Bazemore at the wings, but the free agency of DeMarre Carroll could be an issue. Adding a guy like Dekker here is an obvious upgrade over John Jenkins and Austin Daye. Yes, perhaps a PF or C is a more urgent need, but I think that's one that is resolved outside of the draft. When you get a guy like Dekker, a fearless wing who can score, shoot, pass, and defend, you gotta take him. Best player available. And three months into the season everyone is talking about all the GMs who messed up by passing on him.
