With the 26th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft . . . the San Antonio Spurs select Delon Wright from the University of Utah. The San Antonio Spurs are at a cross roads even more than any other franchise this off-season. The team was only capable of securing the 6th seed in the Western Conference, and goes into free agency with the possibility of losing both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. It's not entirely time to rebuild, reload, or return to the lotto. But it's not like there is much you can do with this roster as is. Delon Wright is a smart, seasoned basketball player who could fit right in on the Spurs. He would be behind Tony Parker and Patrick Mills; but that's not a bad place to learn the NBA game from. Wright is much bigger than either of them and boasts a 6'7 wingspan as a point guard. You just know that Coach Gregg Popovich loves that, or would if he was on the team. Wright is a very solid defender -- something that is very rare for point guards. The Western Conference is just silly with offensive point guards, and the Spurs, whether it is for this season for the future, will need to corral them somehow. Wright is more than just a defender though. He is someone who can get to the line, and excels in the drive and dish game. His three point shot is still evolving, but I bet he will get there in a few seasons. He's a Spurs type player. This is a good fit for him.
