NBA Draft 2015: April Mock Draft -- Boston Celtics select Cliff Alexander

With the 28th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft . . . the Boston Celtics select Cliff Alexander from the University of Kansas. Cliff is the best available player, and for a Boston Celtics team that knows where they need to improve, he's a step in the right direction. He's a very solid, though slightly under-sized, bigman. That makes him good enough to start in the Eastern Conference, and fits in will with what Boston has been doing lately with Brandon Bass and Jae Crowder (both are free agents). Cliff has an NBA body while being only 6'8. He has a 7'4 wingspan and a 9'0 reach -- so think of him in that Elton Brand type of mold with his crazy long arms. This allows him to be an elite rebounder and shot blocker despite being, you know, 6'8. He is also pretty athletic and can jump all day. This allows him to attack the rim for put backs, or clear the glass. There are downsides to his monstrosity -- he has a low basketball IQ, and can't make a shot outside of six feet. Boston has four picks in this draft, and coming out of the first round with Devin Booker and Cliff Alexander isn't half bad.
