Utah Jazz draft Elijah Hughes at pick 39 in the 2020 NBA Draft

It’s not clear just yet how this happened

It has been a bit of a whirlwind night for the Jazz who have had a very active draft. From their earlier trade from the Knicks Utah had the 38th pick but that appears to have moved to Detroit as part of the Tony Bradley trade.

But the Jazz just made another pick at 39 and have selected Elijah Hughes from Syracuse.

It appears that Utah is sending a future pick for Hughes. We’ll see what those picks end up being but for now it appears the Jazz have improved their scoring ability.

Some quick notes on Hughes. He’s a polished scorer with some impressive numbers and pretty good size.

Stats

2019: 19.0 PPG, 3.4 APG, 4.9 RPG. His final season at Syracuse he shot 34% from three.

Career Stats: 13.5 PPG, 2 APG, 3.8 RPG

Hughes will have a chance to have an impact for Utah with his size and scoring ability. Hughes’ jumpshot looks really polished and if he can develop with Utah he could be a real steal.

Also, just looking at this jumpshot gets me excited.
