The Utah Jazz have just signed bigman , according to Yahoo! Sports savant Adrian Wojnarowski. This would bring the team's current roster to a whopping 19 players. This is normal, the team usually has about 20 guys going into training camp. Signing them now affords the Jazz some advantages. First, the team can get an earlier look on guys, and direct their next few months (P3, advice on what to work on, what part of their game needs to be honed, etc). Second, it helps to fill the team with guys they can use for trades. Let's not forget that the team used non-guaranteed contracts to facilitate salary dumps that brought back draft picks before. I would be surprised if the Jazz didn't get one of those done this year as well.
Anyway, Jeff . . . .
Yahoo Sources: Free agent 7-footer Jeff Withey agrees to deal with the Utah Jazz. http://t.co/IePMgxGAl2— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) August 24, 2015
Withey joins a crowded front court of Trey Lyles, , Jack Cooley, and Grant Jerrett. Withey is a big man, a true 7 footer who can help on the glass and has an okay face up shot from like 8 feet. #floorspacer The 2nd round pick (#39) played two seasons in New Orleans and averaged 3.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 bpg in 9.9 mpg. He shot .523, was .699 from the free throw line and has an NBA career of 0 for 1 from downtown. Hist 15.9 PER is above average, and he improved a lot from season one to season two. He is still only 25 years old and at least is big enough to do what does, but does it at 7 feet, not 6'9., , ,
Edit: Jeff speaks!
