The Utah Jazz are expected to meet with Washington Wizards RFA Bobby Portis once free agency starts, League Sources tell The Athletic. The meeting, sources say, is expected to take place in Los Angeles. Portis also holds major interest from the New York Knicks, among others

Rumors have already spread about the Jazz’s interest in Bobby Portis and now those rumors are turning out to be true.
This news coming after Nikola Mirotic signing with Barcelona makes it very clear that the Jazz’s offseason goal was to improve the shooting around stars, Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert.
One of the biggest issues for Utah was their inability to score in the playoffs. Having a stretch four like Portis, who shot 39% from three last season, would help spread the floor immediately for both Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley. It would also help with Rudy Gobert rolling to the rim to not have two men in the paint blocking his way.
Obviously this isn’t a done deal, but at this point it’s clear that Utah is going for it for next season.
