KSL's Andy Larsen tweets out that the Utah Jazz PR are keeping reporters away from Trey Burke after practice today.
It looks like Trey Burke will not be made available to Jazz media at practice today.— Andy Larsen (@andyblarsen) February 17, 2016
This is interesting, because the trade deadline is now 22 hours away. The Utah Jazz also just called up Tibor Pleiss from the Idaho Stampede today, and that brings the team's current roster back up to and active 14 (15 with Dante Exum). What's happening? We can only guess.
None of this means that Trey is being traded. It could just be a preventative move on the PR to shield the young man from lines of questioning that ultimately lead to nothing. Erick Green's second 10-Day contract expired and the team did not add a new PG yet. And yes, Burke has been talking about in trades and this information was confirmed by the SLTRIB's Tony Jones. Is he moving? I don't know.
In my opinion he's one of the best back-up PGs in the league right now and it's hard to find an on-court upgrade. Furthermore, the Jazz may have a back-up PG upgrade on the roster already in Raul Neto. There's no need to move Burke now. And I feel as though his nonavailability to the media today will be much ado about nothing. Of course, if I am wrong then I am wrong. And I will admit being wrong.
