Gordon Hayward and the Utah Jazz have a few hours left to agree on a contract extension

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

The clock is indeed ticking, and we've had a whole new day to worry. I erroneously thought that the contract deadline was midnight last night, but it's today. The Utah Jazz and potential star wing player Gordon Hayward need to figure things out. No matter which side wins (the player or the org), fans don't really have a say. For our sake we'd like both sides to come to the table and get it done. Yes, it's not our money, but in a way with all our collective ticket, parking, concessions, and merch purchases, it is part of our money.

We do want Gordon here. The national media will greedily be talking potential trades all season long if he's going into RFA this off-season. I think Gordon wants to stay and the front office wants to keep him here. Paul George (Pacers), John Wall (Wizards), DeMarcus Cousins (Kings), Derrick Favors (Jazz), Larry Sanders (Bucks) have all gotten deals. Guys like Greivis Vasquez (Kings) have not.

So, seriously . . . get it done.
