It’s finally here! The Utah Jazz are back in business and we (almost) have really basketball to talk about. Yesterday was media day, which means a lot of quotes that we take way too seriously.
Today’s Downbeat is simple. I’m just going to throw together a bunch of quotes and tweets from yesterday to help anyone who wasn’t able to keep up. Let’s get to it!
| "The biggest thing for us is to just focus on what we can do. We control what we can control. Moves have been made in the West and people are going to say what they want to say. But for us, we have to start over."#RoadToTipoff | @KUTV2News

Dennis Lindsey and the Jazz front office have been building towards this team for seven years. Now that it's here - on paper - can the talent translate to actual basketball? A story on a new season to come for the Utah Jazz is right here - https://t.co/1Ats0khpWF

Mike Conley: our ultimate goal is to win a championship, but we aren’t acting like we’ve been there and done that. We are going to show up every day and work hard towards our goals

Jeff Green on why he thinks the Jazz can be a championship contender: "Every element. We have depth. Young rising talent. Players who are gritty. Defensive bigs who blog shots, run the floor. We have a great point guard. We have it all on paper."
— Andy Larsen (@andyblarsen) September 30, 2019
Dante Exum is open to playing multiple positions, which is a considerable departure from a few years ago when he was pretty adamant he was strictly a point guard

Mudiay: "I was tired of not being in the playoffs. I saw a great opportunity here. … I'd heard great things about the coaching staff." Said Larry Brown was also a big influence in pushing him toward Utah.
— Eric Walden (@tribjazz) September 30, 2019
Georges Niang: The only expectations that matter are our own. We expect a lot out of each other. … We all have a goal of winning an NBA championship, but that can’t happen if we don’t focus on what’s [immediately] ahead of us.

Scotty and I got a chance to interview Jazz head coach Quin Snyder. I loved his thoughts on Donovan's FIBA experience.

He also talks about Jazz new additions.https://t.co/TMXSKIp7o9
Joe Ingles drops the first “3 hour practice” reference of the day.

Mike Conley says he has learned that when Coach Snyder says he wants to talk to you for 5 minutes (Joe Ingles laughs) he might talk to you for an hour (Joe Ingles laughs harder)

“The chemistry was easy. When you’ve got guys who are willing to put aside egos … it makes it easy when the season starts.”

-Jeff Green
There’s content ALL OVER the place. Check out the local news stations, radio stations, beat writers, and twitter feeds. National outlets have been putting out things as well, so if this wasn’t enough for you go search for some more.
WE (kind of) HAVE JAZZ BASKETBALL BACK!!!
I’d love to read answers to the following questions:
- Which quote or player stood out to you the most?
- What was the funniest moment of media day to you?
- Did you expectations of any player change and why?
