Utah Jazz Injury Update: Raul Neto cleared concussion protocol, will play against Charlotte Hornets

New, comments

Good news, everyone!

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Jazz have announced today that guard Raul Neto will be available tonight as he has cleared the NBA's concussion protocol.

Via the press release:

SALT LAKE CITY (January 27, 2016) - The following is a medical update on Utah Jazz guard Raul Neto, who was diagnosed with a concussion after being hit in the head during the first quarter of the Jazz's Jan. 25 game vs. Detroit:

Over the last couple days under the care of the Utah Jazz medical staff and University of Utah Health Care, and in consultation with NBA medical officers, Neto has participated in each step of the NBA-mandated "Return-to-Participation Exertion Protocol" as part of the league's Concussion Policy. This process includes a series of steps designed to ensure an athlete exhibits symptom-free behavior before resuming basketball activities. During each step of the process Neto has remained symptom-free, including after his workouts earlier today. As a result, the Jazz medical staff has cleared Neto to play in tonight's game vs. Charlotte.

This is great news as both he and Trevor Booker took the minimum amount of time to get this done in the same month. Also, this is great news because against the Charlotte Hornets tonight we're going to need more help against Kemba Walker, who had previously dropped 52 points on the team in a Double Overtime game last week. Behind him there is bench scorer Trey Burke and newly signed Erick Green on a 10-Day contract. If Kemba is having "one of those games" I do expect Quin Snyder to try a lot of people on him, including some wings as well.

But all-in-all, great to have Neto back, even if he is going to be playing injury recovery mitigation level reduced minutes.
