The Utah Jazz went out and dominated the Phoenix Suns tonight, 103-69. A number of Western Conference teams have had a ton of injuries this season, most people point to the New Orleans Pelicans, but the Jazz and Suns are both up there. Utah was up 2-0 in this series, mainly because they were healthier when the games started. The Suns have been playing better with some of their players getting healthy, and tonight it was the Jazz playing without a lot of firepower. No and , as usual, but also no tonight for the second straight game. The end result was still the same, the Jazz winning, and now the season series stands 3-0 in favor of the good guys with one more game to go.
It really was a case of the replacement players bringing it tonight., starting in place of Exum, nearly had a triple double as he made Phoenix look stupid at times. , starting in place of Hayward, disrupted them on defense all game long and dropped several big bombs from deep. And , taking over the bench scoring role from Burks, shot over 70 FG%, and made a number of circus shots at the rim. Phoenix had no answer for the replacements, and the regulars didn't have to have big games.
For the Suns, well, they just didn't seem to be in it at all. The Jazz won every quarter of this game, extending their lead to ludicrous levels.had some stats, had a double double, but none of their players finished with a positive in +/-. Phoenix was punched in the face early and often. And never stood up for themselves.
The Jazz have now won four games in a row, and step out for their last extended road trip of the season. They will play @ Chicago Bulls, @ Milwaukee Bucks, @ Houston Rockets, @ Oklahoma City Thunder, and @ Minnesota Timberwolves -- five games in eight nights. It's not going to be killer, but it's not going to come easy either. We hope Hayward is back for the road trip.
