Early today the beat writers (Andy B. Larsen, Aaron Falk, Jody Genessy, and Tony Jones) reported that the Utah Jazz have some actual injury report news surrounding George Hill, Derrick Favors, Rodney Hood, and others. This afternoon the Jazz confirmed their reports.
What does this mean? Well, it means we could be seeing some faces we’ve missed.
- George Hill (Doubtful) has missed the last 4 games
- Raul Neto (Questionable) missed the last 4 games
- Rodney Hood (Questionable) missed the last 1 game
- Derrick Favors (Questionable) has missed the last 14 games
- Jeff Withey (Questionable) has not missed any games this season to injury
Withey’s ability to play center efficiently has helped Rudy Gobert get the necessary rest that he needs in the second half of games. However, if Derrick Favors is back he’s clearly going to be playing back-up center minutes over Jeff.
George Hill missing this game against the Minnesota Timberwolves is fine just as long as he’s back for the last three games of the regular season: @ Portland Trail Blazers (Damian Lillard) @ Golden State Warriors (Stephen Curry), and vs. San Antonio Spurs (Tony Parker).
Someone who is not listed here is Dante Exum, who couldn’t finish the last game because of a bone bruise (hip contusion). If he’s not listed here it’s likely that he’s good to go. If Neto is back that really helps out and strengthens the rotation at point, especially against a Ricky Rubio led team that’s been playing pretty well lately.
Hood not playing sucks, because seriously. Hood needs to get into Playoff shape.
Players being listed as Questionable the day before a home game probably says they will be observed in shoot around tomorrow and be game time decisions around tip-off. Hill being doubtful means he has a less than 50% chance of suiting up.
I pray for health for this team. And if you wanted to get some rest, this part of April is really the last time of the regular season to get it.
