According to both the Utah Jazz and Deseret News super beat writer Jody Genessy, Gordon Hayward has a low back contusion. As a consequence he will miss tonight's open practice / scrimmage. That's a shame, because it happened in an almost meaningless way when Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum fouled him in transition.
Gordon Hayward is dealing with a low back contusion, so he won't participate in the Jazz's open scrimmage tonight.

Sitting him out is the right thing to do at this point in time. It will allow for more time on the court for Alec Burks, Rodney Hood, Elijah Millsap, Chris Johnson, and Treveon Graham. If G-Time is day-to-day we have nothing to worry about. The Jazz next play a game on Sunday the 18th, against the same Portland Trail Blazers.
